Tsunami in Berkeley Marina

OCSC was spared any damage from the tsunami that ravaged Japan and severely damaged marinas in Hawaii as well as in several coastal California marinas.  All our boats strained at their lines as a tsunami generated current of up to 5 knots alternately raced in and out of the Berkeley Marina.

This occurred over several hours the morning after the earthquake, submerging docks and knocking over a couple of pilings.

As interesting as that was, we all had heavy hearts from seeing the devastation in Japan.  Our hearts are with the Japanese as they deal with this unprecedented catastrophe.

Here are some YouTube videos from Friday morning.  They are all short.  You can watch them in order to see the progression of the surge into the marina.
