OCSC is running a food drive to help support the Alameda County Community Food Bank. This is an excellent chance to make a difference in the lives of others as well as making a significant impact on the community.
Here are some facts about Hunger in Alameda County:
- Almost 160,000 people in Alameda County live below the official California poverty level.
- Over 54,000 of the people in poverty in Alameda County are children.
- Berkeley alone holds a 20% poverty level. This is 50% higher than the state average, making it a critical area for .
OCSC is looking for:
- Canned Foods
- Peanut Butter
- Low-Sugar Cereal and Oatmeal
- Tomato Sauce
- Powdered Milk
You can find the OCSC food bin upstairs in the main classroom. Simply drop off the food upstairs or hand it to any one of our office staff.
