Horrific Sea Voyage Reenactment

This is a nice article about one of our teambuilding adventures. It has been published by Executive Travel, an American Express publication in January of 2013.

OCSC Sailing, San Francisco

Book a team-building trip with the Olympic Circle Sailing Club (OCSC), a sailing school and tour operator in San Francisco Bay, and your team won’t just leave with new seamanship skills—they’ll leave with a new appreciation for solid ground. The operator’s “Shackleton Adventure” is based on the 1914 sailing adventure of Sir Ernest Shackleton, during which he and his crew got trapped in pack ice en route to Antarctica. This daylong, substantially less harrowing reenactment scenario explores lessons in leadership and teamwork on an 82-foot schooner and several J/24 boats, while avoiding the more awful details of the real trip (Shackleton’s crew had to eat their own sled dogs to keep from starving).
